Exclusive: Paycom CEO Launches Sweeping Purge of HR Department…

Things continue to stay rocky in Paycom land!

Thanks to numerous tips via the Ogle Mole Network, we’ve learned that Paycom CEO Chad Richison – the company’s founder and now sole CEO, who’s scrambling to fix the company’s troubled product – has embarked on an ego-driven purge of the HR department.

Yep, that’s right.

The company that makes software to help businesses get rid of Kathy from HR is now getting rid of its own Kathys from HR!

The Ogle Mole Dispatches are still pouring in, but this firing spree appears to be a significant reduction in force (RIF). Almost all of the layoffs are hitting employees at the Oklahoma City campus, primarily affecting those in Talent Development, Employee Experience, Talent Management, and other HR-related roles.

While exact numbers are still hard to pin down, one Ogle Mole who was fired this week told me that at least 100 of their colleagues were also shown the door, with explanations ranging from “poor performance” to “position eliminated.” They went on to explain that “virtually anything related to human resources has been cut.”

Another Mole with knowledge of the situation mentioned that out of the 300 or so employees who recently worked in HR, only about 50 will remain when all is said and done. Many roles and responsibilities are either being eliminated or transferred to other departments.

For example, the responsibilities of the HR compensation teams have been moved to finance, while the HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems) roles have been shifted to product management.

To top it off, as I was writing this, a Secret High-Level Mole even reached out to share that the company also axed employees working on DEI initiatives, which I guess means the OCPA can’t accuse Chad Richison of being "woke" anymore.

As for Chad, the Moles who’ve reached out are not too happy with him.

One called him an “absolute tyrant of a CEO who cares about no one but himself and how much he's worth.” They added that he doesn’t care about people, livelihoods, or mental health, and that the company’s claims of caring about employee retention, well-being, and development are all just smoke and mirrors – nothing more than recruiting propaganda.

I can’t verify all of that, but based on my experience in corporate America and all the chatter I’ve heard about Chad and Paycom over the past few years, it sounds pretty spot-on!

I considered reaching out to Paycom for a comment or to verify the numbers, but let’s be real – that would just be a waste of time. They’d either not respond or hit me with a canned PR statement.
