In a sick and disgusting story—on multiple levels—Miguel Angel Sierra-Meza, a janitor contracted to clean KOCO Channel 5, was arrested earlier this month on 28 “Peeping Tom” charges for allegedly hiding cameras inside bathroom vents to record unsuspecting victims at both the news station and a local private school.
He’s currently in Oklahoma County Jail, being held on a $280,000 bond. His mug shot is below.

So far, KOCO Channel 5 hasn’t reported on the arrest or the crime—probably because the entire news team and production staff are currently in therapy! Other local TV outlets are staying quiet too, likely fearing a “copycat custodian” scandal of their own.
The Oklahoman’s Nolan Clay, however, was on the case, going full live, local, late-breaking with this disturbing scoop:
[Sierra-Meza] can be seen in videos from the cameras placing the devices in the vents at KOCO-TV and Guidepost Montessori at Brasswood,” an Oklahoma City police detective reported in a court affidavit…
The first recording device was discovered when a television station employee on March 31 noticed dust falling onto her lap from the ceiling, according to the affidavit. The employee was in the stall of the women's restroom at the time.
The victim looked up, noticed the device in the vent, and notified her bosses, the detective reported. The second device was found in the staff restroom at the school after police began checking other businesses.
Yikes! And you thought realizing the toilet paper dispenser was empty was the worst thing that could happen while using a public restroom! Seriously, my thoughts go out to all the victims of this perv. I’m sure they all feel weird, sick, and violated—and I don’t blame them.
As Nolan Clay notes, the truly disturbing part of this case is that the guy targeted a local school—and two of his 26 victims were children. I guess one of the victims from the school has already partnered up with Cameron Spradling—the Johnnie Cochran of Oklahoma sex crime plaintiff attorneys.
He issued this tweet about it:

Listen. I know Cameron’s chasing a seven-figure settlement for his clients, but since when did companies start vetting janitors??? Is that a new thing? When I was a kid, most school janitors looked like they lived in the boiler room and were wanted in at least two states. I’m not saying that’s ideal—and today's technology complicates things—but let’s not act like this is some sudden moral failing of HR.
Also, let’s not turn this into a “blame the immigrants” thing.
For every bathroom-creeping freak like this, there are thousands of immigrants—documented or not—doing the dirty, grimy, thankless work most Americans won’t touch—like cleaning a TV station bathroom at night.
So whether he was an immigrant Peeping Tom—or a homegrown one like Mary Fallin’s old personal assistant—doesn’t matter much to me.
If the dude is found guilty—and I assume the police having him on video placing a camera into an air vent is pretty strong evidence—he should probably spend a long time in jail as punishment for his crimes, or at least be accidentally sent to an El Salvadorian gang prison.
